One of the questions we get often is, "Why Alaska?!?!"
This is usually followed by, "Isn't it snowy and dark all the time?" "Does everybody live in an igloo?" All we say is, "You need to experience this place." In 2016, almost 2 million tourists visited Alaska. And that was only from May through September. Many more come in the colder months to see the Northern Lights, mush on a dog sled, ski, hunt, and fish. There is no doubt that Alaska is on the travel bucket lists of people all over the world. Even though it's part of the United States, it feels like it's a world apart. The 49th state still has a lot of untouched frontier to explore. The Alaskan coastline extends for 6,640 miles, a distance greater than all the other states' coastlines combined. Including islands, Alaska has 33,904 miles of shoreline. The estimated tidal shoreline, including islands, inlets sounds and bays, is 47,300 miles. In a May 2018 article, Business Insider listed Alaska as one of the top 10 summer vacation destinations according to TripAdvisor. The state is insanely diverse and most folks who haven't been there live with a set of misconceptions. The Respite at Halibut Cove is located in one of the most scenic places of Alaska. It's hard to get more idyllic than the beautiful Ismailof Island, part of the community of Halibut Cove, nestled on the south side of Kachemak Bay.
Halibut Cove is an Alaskan paradise. Located on the Kenai Peninsula, it is a peaceful, quaint community surrounded by mountains, forests, glaciers, coastline, and the ocean. It is home to abundant wildlife. Because Halibut Cove is an island, it is only accessible by boat or plane. |
